5 shocks I received after I moved to Canada

Hello everyone. Today I want to talk about the shocks I received after moving to Canada from India, my country of residence. As you must have guessed, there were things different in ways I couldn’t even imagine. So, here’s me telling you the top 5 shocks I received.

The famous “thank you” and “sorry”

Before moving to Canada, I had heard that the people here are extremely polite. This is the truest thing about Canadians. It has been a month but I still haven’t come across a rude Canadian. It is indeed true that they say thank you and sorry quite a lot.

The cold weather

I come from the northernmost part of India which gets very cold during the winter. But, it’s nothing compared to Canada. It is as cold in October as it is in January in India. And guess what, winters are not even here yet. I wonder how cold the actual winters will be.

Cultural shock

Canadians are very polite people. They are polite in almost everything they do. Holding doors to greet everyone on the road, Canadian politeness is everywhere. This is definitely something everybody needs to learn from the Canadians.

The food

As we all know by now, I’m from India. And Indian food is known for its unique blend of spices and flavours. But the food here in Canada is relatively bland. Yes, one thing I didn’t like about this country. I wish they used more spices than just salt and pepper.

Tim Hortons

Last but definitely not least, Tim! How can we talk about Canada and not talk about Tim? When I was coming to Canada, I heard a lot of people say that Tim is highly overrated. But, I don’t think so. In fact, I love having meals and coffee from Tim. Not to forget the yummy French Vanilla (don’t drink it too much if you’re trying to lose some inches).

So, these were a few of the shocks I got after coming to Canada from India. Let me know your opinions and experiences if you’ve moved to another country or even your friends’ or relatives’ experiences. Cheers!
